Libraries NI announces consultation on 2nd stage of Strategic Review

Libraries NI has announced that it is undertaking a public consultation exercise on the proposals arising from the second stage of the Strategic Review of public library provision.

This stage involves 76 libraries outside the greater Belfast area. Libraries NI has published a summary report. This report identifies 10 libraries for possible closure and 2 others to be merged or “clustered”.

The public consultation on the review will run for 12 weeks starting on 10 January 2011. As part of the process a series of public meetings will be held and a survey questionnaire will be available.  LISC will be preparing a response and members are welcome to let us know if they have any views which they would like to see incorporated in the LISC comments.
