Digitisation

In 2008 LISC established a Digitisation Working Group. The group produced a draft Digitisation Policy for Northern Ireland. DCAL is consulting on this.

The Working Group is now engaged in developing a strategy to create a critical mass of digitised content representing some of the wealth of rare or unique resources relating to the north of Ireland held in local libraries, archives and museums. Early projects being considered are Belfast maps up to 1900 and the extension of the digitisation of Street Directories beyond PRONI's holdings, which have already been digitised.
